SLIP
SLIP Configuration, AS/400 calling ISP
The needed configuration elements are:
- TCP/IP Point-to-Point Connection Profile, type *DIAL needed
- Usually ISP assigns IP address dynamically to calling clients
- ISP sees AS/400 as single IP host, i.e. IP hosts in a LAN with the AS/400 have no way to access the Internet via the AS/400
- AS/400 does not support 'masking'/hand-over IP address
- Possible way, if ISP assigns AS/400 a fixed block of IP addresses
- Default IP route added dynamically to allow access to entire Internet
- Additional Name Server addresses can be dynamically added to the end of the name server list. This allows you to use the ISP provided name server when accessing the Internet.
- Access authority checking via dialog script
- Modem information required
